Saltmarsh, Thomas, private; Capt. James Aikens Co., Col. Moses Kelley'sRegt.; enlisted Aug. 7, 1778; 23 days' expedition to Rhode Island"
Soldier in the War of the Revolution in Captain Aiken's Co. , ColonelMoses Kelley's Regiment, which joined the Continental Army in RhodeIsland, August, 7, 1778. Resided on Pattee Hill in Goffstown, where AmosW. Whipple lived, and built a small house in the field northwest of hispresent residence.
He was a volunteer, 1778, to reinforce the Continental Army in RhodeIsland.
His name is on a plaque in the Goffstown Library as a Rev. War Vet.

He bought land in Rumford (Concord), of Samuel Eastman 20 June 1761, andof Edward Abbott, 3 Oct 1761. Thomas and Betty Saltmarsh sold land thereto John Kimball, 16 Mar 1770.
The Saltmarsh homestead in Goffstown was owned by his heirs until 1868,when it was sold to T.R. Butterfield, and later Amos W. Whipple. The mainpart of the house was moved to the village by Mr. Butterfield; nowlocated at No. 25, district No. 13, North Mast St, main part of presenthouse moved from site No. 32. (History of Goffstown, Vol. 1, page 520).
