just below conclusion of your ancestor's application, but it does not say that your ancestor was born in Cumberland county, Va. or N. Car. but this man was born in Cumberland county, N. Car.(Unless typo in book & should have been Va.), then lived for a time in Virginia, then on to two different counties in Kentucky. Cumberland county, Va. grantor(seller) index, deeds, film 030743, Massanello Womack - Wm. Henrick 22 July 1782, bk. 6, pg. 117; Massanello Womack and others sell to Obadiah Hendrick, bk. 7, pg. 166, 26 March 1792. Index Cumberland county, Va. grantee(buyer) index, film 030744. No early reference in that index to Massanello. An early Abraham Womach granted to John Saumchiel, 23 Aug. 1762, land on James River bk. 3, pg. 303. Prince Edward county, Va., marriages, #975.5632V2k, pg. 19 Massenello's daughter Elizabeth, cited in marr. as marrying 22 June 1808, John Dabney, pg. 63, Massenello's daughter, Patty cited as marrying, James Plant, 12 Dec 180l. Cumberland county, Va. wills, film 030738, original, bk. 2, pgs. 518/9, Will William Womack, lists son, Marcinella(spelling variant for Massanello) dated 1 Jan 1786, proved 26 Sep 1791. However, we have a problem with this being this Massanello's father in that William in will states he has under age children, and that William's son, William, is oldest son. IF that is the case then this Massanello is not likely to be the son of William & Martha with so many children not married by 1786. This leaves us with possibility of yet another Massanello/Marcennela,etc. who is younger in the family of a William. Possible that the William and Martha taken as parents in IGI could actually be his brother William? I note a Charlotte county, Wm. will in Torrence's Virginia Wills & Admin. index for year 1790, perhaps that Wm. could rather be the father of this man. Since not your direct proven line in back of your Abraham don't know if I should spend a lot more time on this family? Still it might help in fitting more of the families by that surname properly together.
