C.H. "Mutt" BARKER was born in Mullens, Texas.He was nearly four years old when his father, Byron BARKER died. His mother Maggie Mae (BROWN) BARKER remarried to Mr. Claude CLARDY. C.H. BARKER used thesurname CLARDY until after he graduated High School.
Sometime after Maggie remarried the family moved to Brown County. C.H. attended school in the WilliamsCommunity. It was there that he met his future wife, Lenard Marie TITSWORTH.
C.H. and Lenard married in Brown County and their first child, Jessie, was bornin Brownwood, Texas. But there was no work in the area so the family moved west again. They moved to Kermit, Winkler County, Texas to find work in the oilfields. In Kermit C.H. became known as "Slim Barker".
Two more children wereborn- a son, Nathan and a daughter, Kay.
Nathan has two children and three grandchildren and Kay has two children and three grandchildren.
