He lived and died near East Millstone, New Jersey. He was a Blacksmith and carpenter. Peter and his wife were buried in the cemetery near the railroad stationat Belle Mead, New Jersey a few miles from East Millstone, they had no children.
Douglas Ditmars, of Holmesville, Ohio has in his possession a carpenter'sdraw knife, that has Peter Ditmar's name name stamped upon the blade. It is supposed this knife was brought to Ohio by Peter's father, Abraham, in 1837. Peter and his brother Cornelious helped build the boat Monitor. One a carpenter theother as blacksmith
