apprenticed with brother in law John Belden as blacksmith
moved to Hannibal NY after marriage., then to Ira NY in 1821 where his wife died.
the 5 children were sent to vermont to various aunts and uncles.
selling tombstones, he met 2nd wife, a widow with 7 children
they moved to hannibal, then to chicago in 1833, where he opened a boarding house. and alonson visited him. in 1839 sickness moved him to missionary grove, where his wife died. went back east to visit almira in port byron, then went back to hannibal.
in pulaski ny he met 3rd wife, friend of 1st wife, and took her back to chicago.
