[101457] All the ch. are recorded in the Morristown, NJ, Pres. Church, also inthe National Archives, Washington, D.C. When the news of the battle atLexington and Concord reached Morristown, indignation was high andimmediately a committee was appointed to devise means and methods ofpreparation for the struggle for liberty. Three hundred volunteerswere recruited and divided into companies of sixty men each. SilasHowell was made Captain-Lieutenant in Major De Hart's company. Hebecame a Major. After the war he, with his wife and several ch., wentwest and they were among the first settlers of Cincinnati, OH.(Descendants of Edward Howell (1)...)
