[34150] First Husband, John Peele Jr.; widow by 1832. Married Levi Kirk in Jones Co. Ga. 14 Mar 1826. Jones Co. Ga. deeds show no Peeles. Tax lists in Jones Co show on Peeles. Probate records for Jones Co. show no Peeles. A search of census records from 1820 to 1850 in Jones Co. show no Peeles. Jasper Co. Ga. records were also searched Jasper Co. deeds Bk A pgs 670-671 on film 158497 William Peele 21 Jan 1827 sells to James Pon. This is only early Peele reference in Jones Co. or a bordering Co. in the 1820's.
A Rebecca Gray, dau. of Benjamin Gray and Molly is listed in Bk. Edgecome Kinfolks No. Car. Bk. # 975.641rtw pg 487 in an estate settlement of Benjamin's land. In the settlement Rebecca's husband is listed as John Peele Jr. In Benjamin Gray's will 31 Oct 1817 pv'd Nov 4 1817, Edgecombe co.,N. Car., Bk. 975.646p2wr pg 142, children Peter Gray, Elizabeth wife of Abel Brown, Goditha, and Rebeckah,wife of JohnPeal Jr. are cited. Grandaughters Charlotte and Peggy Peal are cited also. By the time of above cited settlement in 1821 the son, Peter Gray is living in Jones county, Ga. This puts Peter Gray, brother of Rebeckah Gray Peele/Peale in Jones county in l821 just a few years before marriage of Rebeckah Peele/Peale to Levi Kirk in Jones county. I feel circumstantially this may be your connection but couldn't find marriage to prove it for certain of the John Peele Jr. to Rebeckah Gray in Edgecombe or bordering counties in N. Car.
