MOSES SIMMONS: Original name Symonson changed to Simmons, Moses came to
America on the Ship Fortune in 1621;

MOSES SIMMONS, went to Holland with the Pilgrims and sailed from Leyden
in 1621 in the ship "Fortune," one of the second party of Pilgrims. The
first party of Pilgrims sailed from Leyden in 1620, in two ships, the
mayflower and the Speedwell. The Speedwell gave up the voyage at
Plymouth, England. The Mayflower sailed alone from Plymouth on 6 Sept
1620, arrived at Cape Cod Nov. 11, and land her passengers at Plymouth,
Massachusetts on 21 1620.
The Fortune held the second party of Pilgrims, numbering 35. She
arrived at Cape Cod on 9 Nov. 1621 and landed her passengers at Plymouth,
Mass. on 19 Nov. 1621, a year after the landing of the Mayflower.

SIMMONS, SYMONSON. "Moses, Plymouth, one of the first comers, arrived in
the Fortune 1621, born at Leyden, and bearing the Dutch name of Symonson
or Simonson, but early shortened his name to the first two syllables:
probably brot. w., but no children known except Moses and Thomas, who may
both have been born here. He settled at Duxbury, was one of the
original purchasers of Dartmouth and Proprs. of Bridgewater, and
Middleborough, but did not rem. to eather. Moses, Duxbury, son of the
precedig or perhaps his grandson for one of the name is mentioned which
may however have been son of Thomas; by wife Sarah had John, Aaron, Mary,
Elizabeth, and Sarah, who all married and he died 1689."
