Family 1

: Sarah HOLIFIELD
Hiram was killed in an awful farming accident. There was a mill on the Itawamba-Alabama line. They made shingles and things like that. He was putting in a big steel grinding thing. He was caught in it and it ground him up all together. They just buried him out behind the mill.According to David Alan Webb as posted on the Internet in Descendants of Hiram Webb:
Hiram was born in North Carolina. He may have had a first wife - Sarah Holifield. There is a marriage certificate between these tow in 1814 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.
Hiram was found in the 1820 census in Tennessee.
In 1830 he was in Marion Co., Alabama (just across from Itawamba Co.). It listed:
3 males 0-5
3 males 5-10
4 other children of older ages.
Mary was 35 in 1830 census.
Hiram was not listed in the 1836 Tax Rolls for Itawamba County, Mississippi.
Hiram was killed in an awful farming accident. There was a mill on the Itawamba-Alabama line. They made shingles and things like that. He was putting in a big steel grinding thing. He was caught in it and it ground him up altogether. They just buried him out behind the mill.
In 1840 Marion Co., Alabam census records a female 40-49 years old, the age Mary Webb would have been.
1840 Itawamba Co., Mississippi records a Mary Webb as head of a household. (page 10)
In 1819 Tax List, there is a Hiram and a Johnathan Webb in Rhea Co., Tennessee???
