NELSON NEI L was born about 1820 in Tennessee, and moved with the family some time about 1838 to Southwestern MO. The family lived in that area of Polk Co where it joins Greene and Dade.His adult life would be spent primarily in Dade.

In 1843 he married Margaret Jane Savage, daughter of Dr. William and Susannah Bolling Williams Savage.(see THE SAVAGE FAMILY) A Dade Co Warranty Deed dated 1 Oct 1853 transfers a parcel of land to Nelson Neal and wife Margaret J. from Elija S. Perkins and Mary M. Perkins; the parcel was "all that portion of the west half of the North East quarter of Section No. 26 in Township No. 33, Range No. 25, that lies on theSE side of Little Sac river, the source being situated in the County of Dade and State of MO..." This 40 acres is now under water - just east of where present MO 245 crosses Stockton Lake.

Nelson apparently died in 1876 in Dade Co, MO; son Samuel was his Executor. Margaret Jane's death is not known, but itshould be noted that her mother and nearly all her siblings had left for Grayson Co, TX around the year 1847. Their story is told in the SAVAGE FAMILY section.
