[2587] Civil War Veteran, 134th Volunteer Infantry, Company I, 44 yrs old.

Thomas Mann was 44 years old when he enlisted in 1862 to fight withthe 134th, making him one of the oldest members of the regiment. AtChancellorsville, he was detailed to guard the regiment's equipmentand was caught up in Stonewall Jackson's attack on the XI Corps. Hewas slightly wounded, but returned to duty by the start of theGettysburg Campaign.
Mann was somehow accidently shot while on picket duty in June andtherefore missed the 134th's bloody fight at Gettysburg. Afterspending some time in army hospitals, he was transferred to theVeterans Reserve Corps until his discharge for disability in March,1865. Thomas Mann died in 1902.
