AbeLincoln had a passion for learning. He only had one year of formal schooling,but be would walk for miles to borrow books to teach himself math, science, andlaw.

He volunteered and became a Captain in the Black Haek War of 1832. Hecommented afterwards that he saw no live, fighting Indians, but had a good many bloody struggles with the mosquitoes.
