Edward Howell was probably from England. He was admitted as a freeman ofLynn, Mass., on March 14, 1639, with 500 acres at that place, but he soonremoved to Long Island where he was one of the grantees of the originalIndian deed for Southampton. He became a magistrate of Southampton in1647. Children: John, b. abt. 1625; Edmund; Edward; Richard; and Arthur,who may all have been born in England. He died before May 25, 1656.
