was in kitchen of his uncle grover c. haag at 6:10pm when lightning struck him. rushed to adrian hospital and died 10 minutes later. he was standing by stove, with one hand on it. was known as "louie." the house had a lightning rod that was struck, he
collapsed. his uncle caught him and asked "what's the matter?" he responded "i'm all right" and lost consciousness. cousins and his brother john in the basement all were also shocked by the lightning but remained conscious and recovered. the
damaged to the house consisted of brass fittings on the kitchen sink being ripped off and a chunk of concrete knocked loose at the foot of the lightning rod where it was attached to the ground. louie had just graduated high school. he was in the
lewiston boy scout troop 17. he had been visiting his uncle for the past 5 weeks.
