EDWARD HOWELL FAMILY ASSOCIATION:
He was the youngest son of Edward Howell, but was allowed by his eldestbrother John the homestead and after occupying it until about 1698 soldit and moved to Cape May County, New Jersey (John could have evoked thedoctrine of primogeniture, which applied when his father died intestate).66
He was called on the town records the son-in-law of Thomas Sayre in adeed in which he and Thomas Sayre each give one half of the land neededfor a new street, now called Job's Lane or Academy Lane, so he must havemarried a daughter of this Thomas Sayre. She died no great length of timeafter the marriage and appears to have left no children. 64
In 1661, Edmund sold part of the home to Samuel Whitehead, a sale thatwas confirmed by 1682. 66
Edmund Howell, Sr. went to Cape May, New Jersey after his wife, Sarah,died and there, acccording to Court Records, married a third time, toKatherine Barwick. 8
The Record reads: -- Edmund Howell, Court Records of Sussex Co., then oneof three counties of William Penn's Province but now in Delaware. Date --June 29, 1696. 8
"This may certify that Maj. Edmond Howell of Cape May in West Jersey,widower, and Katherine Barwick, late of Maryland, widow, did on the 29thday of June, Anno Domino 1696 at the town of Lewis-- mutually take eachother as husband and wife."

He must have died shortly after this marriage, as the Book of Records,Cape May County, has the following -- January 19, 1697, letters ofadministration were granted to Edmund Howell, executor for his deceasedfather, Edmund Howell. 8
