while on leave he met and married mary, who was preparing for mission work in dr. white's bible school. she returned with him to hengchow. while there her health failed. they returned to america to indian wells AZ where Stephen worked with the indians
for many years. then he returned to china with a medical friend to work in a private hospital for 3 years, while mary remained in her home in york SC. when he returened, he went with his wife to st petersburg FL and she died there. He remained there,
spending summers with sisters in grove city
was ill 3 weeks before he died.
