[34459] Monroe county, Georgia borders Jones county Georgia to West. Will book A, pg. 70, copy sent to me from client's cousin, Stephen Kirk in mail, also an obit notice from a Baldwin county, Ga. newspaper about death of Abraham Womack and his date of death and approximate age at that time of 90/91. Will says one approximate age and obit a variance of one year, but close enough not to be serious. Daughters name not given in will but his grandchildren through her with Kirk surname are cited. Executors of will Charles Womack and Wilkins Hunt. Will mentions his carpenter tools. Will probated 5 May 1834. Wife Lucy cited in will. Harris county, Ga. Court of ordinary records, film 327541, pg. 414 matters having to do with guardianship by William Kirk for minors Stephen and Levi Kirk. rec'd 1 Jan 1834 from A. J. Rev. war Pension Abstracts, vol III,#973M28g, pgs. 3923-3924 Abraham Wammock, N. Car. line, wife Lucy, soldier lived in Chatham county before & after revolution. On 1 Jan 1786 moved to Hancock county, Ga, to Jones county before 1825 and to Monroe county after 1825.Died 10 April 1834, abt 90 yrs old, marr. Lucy Moody 8 May 1825, Jones county. IGI Virginia, computer #5000391 sheet 28, Abraham Womack born 22 April 1742, son of Richard Womack and Nancy Ann Childers, good possibility for this man approximate age only a year different. First wife mother of his children. 2nd wife, Lucy, had no children, she was 44-1825, married Abraham 8 May 1825 in Jones county. We don't have any clues so far as to name of first wife, though I have searched extensively in deeds, court abstracts, tax lists, probates in Georgia. However a thorough study of deeds in Chatham might give us a clue as to who the wife might be, hopefully mentioned in a deed before they left to move to Georgia? Fred Olds, An Abstract N. Car. Wills, 1760-1800, pg. 59,Caswell county,Charles Millikin will,1785 wife, Ann,others named Robert, James, Charles, George, Quenton, Jenny. No Womack wills. No other wills mentioning a Charles but many mentioning Ann's.
