Vick C. Blackstone
Vick C. Blackstone, 73, of Parrish, died April 12 in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Edwards-Toal Funeral Home, 3411 U.S. 301, Ellenton. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. W. A. "Bud" Gillett and the Rev. Willis M. Rigsby officiating. Burial will be in Fortner Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Manatee County 4-H Foundation.
Mr. Blackstone, a native of Natila, Texas, moved to Parrish from Texas in 1974. He was a retired rancher and a member of Parrish United Methodist Chruch. He was a member of the Manatee County Fair Board, president of the county Cattlemen's Association, director for the state Cattlemen's Association and chairman of the fund-raiding committee for the Parrish Fire Department. Mr. Blackstone received a distinguished citizen award in 1979 and was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; three brothers, Bob, of Huntsville, Texas, Jim of Brownsville, Texas, and Bert, of California; and three sisters, Josie, of Idaho, Jessie Billings of Lexington, Texas and Alice Hafner of Huntsville, Texas.
