You are looking at the Civil War photo of William Decatur Howell. He was the son of Silas Howell and Matilda C. Rice of White County, Tennessee. His grandparents were John Howell (1788-1861) and Nancy Brewer (February 27, 1792-1886) who had settled in White County, Tennessee by August, 1812 from Grayson County, Virginia where they were married March 12, 1811.

 William served as a Corporal, B Company, 1st Tennessee Mounted Infantry, Federal Army. He committed suicide in August 1901.
