2. John Howell, born about 1762 probably in South Carolina, died 1809 in Laurens County, South Carolina. He married in South Carolina, about 1782, Mary "Polly" Wilson (born 1760 South Carolina; died between 1850-60; buried Howell Cemetery, Cleburne County, Alabama. The 1850 census of Calhoun County, Alabama shows Polly living with their son, Elias.

3. Abraham "Abram" Howell, born 1792 in Laurens County, South Carolina or Maury County, Tennessee, died 1867 in Monroe County, Mississippi. Abram married Sarah Ann Andrews 16-18 October 1811 in Laurens County, South Carolina or Maury County, Tennessee. Sarah was born 9 July 1794 in South Carolina or Maury County, Tennessee and died sometime between 1874 and 1879 in Monroe County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Howell Andrews (1772-1839) and Mary (_?_). Abram and Sarah are both buried in Howell Cemetery, Athens, Monroe County, Mississippi.

4. Gilbert Howell was born 13 September 1816 in Monroe County, Tennessee and died - 15 August 1894 in Prentiss County, Mississippi. Sometime between 1837 and 1839, Gilbert married Sarah Nabours/Nabors/Neighbors (born 14 February 1819 in Monroe County, South Carolina; died 13 May 1861 in Prentiss County, Mississippi), the daughter of Abraham Nabours (1794-about 1849) and Nancy Crawford (1791 - ?). Gilbert and Sarah are both buried in the Howell-Smith Family Cemetery, Prentiss County, Mississippi. [Source: 1880 Prentiss County, Mississippi Census]

5. Nola Josephine Howell was born 18 July 1849 or 15 August 1849 in Monroe County, Mississippi. She died 12 or 18 January 1918 in Prentiss County, Mississippi and is buried with her husband in the Carolina Methodist Church Cemetery, Prentiss County, Mississippi. Nola married 22 December 1874 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, William Henton Smith (born 9 September 1852 Mifflin, Tennessee; died 21 February 1920 Prentiss County, Mississippi). He was called "Red Will Smith," stood 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 210 pounds, had red hair, and sported a mustache and beard. Red Will was the son of James Henderson Smith (1822-1899) and Aramantah (_?_) (1833-1878).

Both Charles and Josephine are buried with his parents.

She was born 4 October 1916 in Burton, Prentiss County, Mississippi, the daughter of George Franklin Rushing (1882-1941) and Jennette Woodruff (1889-1963)
