Timothy Howell was born about 1800 in Virginia and died around 1839 in Gates County, North Carolina. He married Nancy Cornelius (daughter of Thomas and Susanna Cornelius, born 18 October 1805 in North Carolina and died 18 March 1881 in Lewiston, North Carolina) about 1832 in Virginia or North Carolina.

James Edward Howell, born 1833 North Carolina

In 1840, Nancy married Willis Turner. They had three children: Martha V. (1841), John* (1845), Ann Malundy & Peggy)

2. James Edward Howell married Lucy Ann Hines 4 March 1858 in Gates County, North Carolina. Lucy was born 20 November 1835 in Southampton County, Virginia, and died 1 August 1910 in Eagletown, North Carolina. She was the daughter of John and Sara (Butts) Hines)

James and Lucy had three children:

	i.	Roena Edward born 17 January 1859 Gates County, North Carolina
	ii.	Alice Mae born 29 March 1860 Hertford County, North Carolina
	iii.	William Fletcher born 11 February 1862 Hertford County, North Carolina died 18 October 1937 South Carolina, Virginia

James died in Civil War 30 September 1864 near Richmond, Virginia. Lucy remarried to James' half-brother, John Turner,* 7 March 1866 in North Carolina.
